Today, we went into the mission offices for the first time.
We got to see Papa's office and where it all happens here in the mission.
The missionaries started arriving and it was fun for Spencer and I to meet Hermana Pasquale. She is friends with Spencer's brother Ethan, who is currently serving a mission in Washington State. She knows Spencer's family, but had never met Spencer. Then, she was called to serve her mission in Argentina with my dad as her Presidente. We can't think of anyone else in our life who has known Spencer's family, but not Spencer...and then met my family, but not me. It all came together today. :)
We did a practice run through of P-Day Navideño.
The real thing will be awesome!
After spending all morning and afternoon at the church and offices, we picked up some sandwiches for dinner and headed to Parque Tres de Febrero. This is an urban park in the neighborhood of Palermo. It is known for its groves, lakes and gardens. It was amazing to me how many park-like, wooded areas there were throughout the city. It has a path circling the park, which is very popular for exercising.
My mom had her sights on this 7 seater/4 pedaler bike.
While Spencer and my dad had their doubts about this contraption
getting us around the park, it did very well!
Brianna roller bladed next to us!
It was super fun.
Then, my dad took us over to "the log" and we ate our dinner. He told us that it was at this spot that Elder Melvin J. Ballard in 1925 dedicated the land for the preaching of the gospel. Melvin J. Ballard compared the future growth of the church like an acorn to an oak tree. It would be slow and very strong. Six people were baptized.
The growth of the church here since that time has been just as described in 1925.
Argentina has 10 missions, about 400,000 members and 823 congregations.
