Truly, we give our thanks for the prayers and well wishes offered in our behalf over the past couple of days. I went to the hospital this morning and the doctor told me that Brianna could come home. She is very sore and just barely able to move, however, I got her settled with some food and medicine and met up with my husband and my missionaries at the transfer meeting.
We had some entertaining moments imagining the younger missionaries coming into the field now. Our grandson, Clark, still has 11 years to wait, however.
Our son-in-law, Tanner, served a Vietnamese-speaking mission in Texas. He found our transfer meeting quite different than the ones he had experienced. Their family loved chatting with the missionaries casually both before and after the meeting today. However, Presidente also had Cherylyn and Tanner share their thoughts during the meeting with Elder Fernandez translating.
Last week, we found out that our dear friend, Diane Heyman was in the hospital in Pilar, Buenos Aires. Presidente Heyman serves as the mission president in Resistencia and we met them in the MTC. We were shocked to find out that she had a stroke and had been brought here.
Austral is a beautiful hospital and it was a joy to see our friends again. We only wish it was in different circumstances.
Imagine our surprise when Brianna was struck with an amazing stomach ache and we ended up at the Austral Hospital for an unplanned visit. Imagine Presidente Heyman’s surprise when we told him we were downstairs in the Emergency Clinic and asked if he would help Doug give Brianna a blessing.
Brianna has two cysts removed. Originally, the plan was to remove one, however, during surgery, they realized that the one they were removing was not causing the problem, even though it was the size of a tennis ball. The problem was with a slightly smaller one that had burst. Thankfully, she is rid of both of them now, which the doctor told us that she has probably been carrying around for years.
Brianna has been in the hospital since Monday and Diane has been there about ten days now. They both get to leave today! Diane will continue therapy at a nearby facility and Brianna will be resting at home for the next week.
It is a rainy holiday Monday. We decided to go to Unicenter. There we found a nearly empty bowling alley, but it was open for business, and so we decided to play. First off, we had to give Clark bowling lessons…aka…How To Bowl with a Broken Arm
I managed to pull off this interesting pin placement…twice!

Everyone was pretty excited to be at the ice cream store and try out an ice cream cone sword.
It was all great, right until the moment when Andrew’s sword started tilting and Doug decided to save it and Cherylyn became aware of it all happening and realized that she was actually closer to Andrew and in that fraction of a second, both Cherylyn and Andrew lost their swords in a big sloppy mess on the floor. Tanner and I heard the fall of it and we heard the rationalizations for the movements of all involved and we were glad that we were still at the counter and uninvolved.
Nevertheless, the proprietors dealt with it graciously, and they both received new swords and everyone had more than enough ice cream to eat.
The body clocks are a little out of sync but the little ones were up and went with me to try out the medialunas and chocolate milk.
Later in the day, we went to the river. It is still winter-ish. When Clark arrived at the airport last night, he told us that he could make clouds with his air.
They left just after midnight, early Wednesday morning and they arrived just before midnight, late Wednesday night...just about 34 hours later. That’s a looooong Wednesday.
We could see them back in the Customs Hall. Chezzie said that she asked the boys if they could see Nana. Clark said that it wasn’t Nana because that lady’s hair was too long. But it was Nana. I am Argentine now. And the Nielsons are here for a visit.
